art and economy

Created in 2006, Les Ateliers de Rennes is the first – and only – contemporary art biennale dedicated to the relationship between art and economics. It is held in a variety of contemporary art spaces including the FRAC Bretagne or the City of Rennes Fine Art Museum.

2008, first edition

This is also a great example of a successful private-public partnership, as it benefits from financial support by the French State and by local authorities. From our first show in 2008, Les Ateliers de Rennes has attracted 50,000 to 60,000 visitors per exhibition, 85% of which coming from the greater Rennes area. We are extremely proud to have created an event that highlights the flourishing of contemporary art in the Bretagne region, and which is second in size after the Lyon Biennale.

a recognized commitment

To top it off, the Ministry of Culture and Communication awarded Bruno Caron in 2010 the honor of becoming a Patron of the Arts (“Grand Mécène de la Culture”). The 6th edition of the Ateliers de Rennes will open its doors in fall 2018.
